EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE in  india

well indian school are far away from the use of educational spftwraes yet in last 3 months i have tried a lot to understand the educational software being used world wide. as more and more students and faculty is being aware of use of it yet the no. of students seems to be very less in india.the reason could be listed as below---

 lack of basic infrastructure

well to get benefited from the usefull educational software need not to say we need the good quality pcs first till the date i have visited 5 school in central school and sanmati school we have dozens of system but there configuration is worst and can not run  cellectia like usefull softwares. beside that rockwood school and other two school i have visited have less then 5 systems and most of them are celeron.

well it is to be notice that schools like bhasker acadamy and infantary school are well equiped there is "computer board " technology being used for daily classrooms but this is not the case with rest of the schools as acording to educomp nearly one dozen institutions are using "CBT' in indor provided by them

solution ---

well when you ask the faculty it clearly indicates that there is no planning of upgrading the system the reason is that what will be the use of the upgraded system

sooo   1  make the faculty aware of these softwares---------------->>  2 they will try to use software like celestia ---------->>>> they will feel the need of higher congifuration -------->>>> systems would be upgraded

but untill they start using them no more system upgrading -->> no more use of these software

this is a vicious cycle

 awareness

as i have mention that school like central h.s. have the good no. and quality infrastructure yet the lack of awareness prvent them from taking the benefit of these utilities. my younger brother is in class 10 in central school and i have already  visited central school a physics and chemestry teacher was there they hardly know about use of educational software but there is internet connectivity in the school

solution  --

an awareness programme is must so that those who have the access to system and net would get benefitted from it atleast. this is not a week or month long process it will take long time as the education software as usualy are not be advertised anywhere on the web untill they are propieratary softwares

10 Things to Consider When Choosing a Linux Distribution
I can’t begin to tell you how many people over the years I have consulted with about choosing a Linux distribution. And even with my own personal loyalties to one distribution or another, it always amazes me how certain distributions are better suited to various users and needs. So when I set out to write a 10 Things article, it only made sense that my first one be related to choosing a Linux distribution.

Interview: How a hacker became a freedom fighter
One of the founding fathers of "free software" and an esteemed elder of the hacking community, Richard Stallman has made defending people's freedoms his life's work. That usually means supplying hackers with software and attacking copyright law. But as he tells Michael Reilly, his advocacy of personal freedoms extends to the protection of true democracy and of the human rights increasingly being trampled on in the US and elsewhere.
